Xtreme Trucking was founded in 2007 by owner and trucker, Travis Nelson. With only one truck and one, leased refrigerated trailer, the company quickly grew through a time of national recession because of its commitment to providing superior customer service.
Travis decided to take the company into the open deck segment of trucking with one owner-operated truck and three flatbed trailers. The flatbed company continued to see success and growth over the next year expanding to a fleet of six tractors and eight trailers, flatbeds, step decks, and RGN trailers- which were available for transporting legal, over-sized and open-deck commodities in 2012.
Xtreme Trucking acquired Zernicke Trucking Inc. of Abrams, Wis. Established in 1975, Zernicke had experience in flatbed, refrigerated and van transportation across all 48 contiguous states. As part of the deal, the flatbed business was brought under the Xtreme brand and Zernicke Trucking still operated as a separate company for all van and refrigerated business. This addition created a joint firepower of 55 power units and 80 trailers. By 2015, the flatbed fleet had expanded to 30 trucks and almost 50 trailers. Canadian authority is added and the brokerage division grows as well.
Xtreme continues to grow as Travis purchases Heim Trucking in Denmark, Wisconsin to service West Coast lanes and Vorpahl Trucking in New Holstein to provide a fleet of local trucks to service in-state Wisconsin lanes for cheese and food product companies. This new equipment runs under the Xtreme banner.
Xtreme builds a new headquarters in Maribel Wisconsin and moves the whole team under one roof. The Zernicke brand is retired and all equipment now sports the Xtreme logo. Additional equipment is added thru the acquisition of another small fleet (Jon T. Wolf), bringing the total number of trucks to 75, with 150 trailers for use as dropped equipment for pre-loading. Within just 5 years, Xtreme becomes one of the fastest growing carriers in the Midwest, doing work for virtually every major shipper in the refrigerated and flatbed segment. Including many well know household name brands.
